Feds notice improvement by state DOE
POSTED: 01:30 a.m. HST, Feb 12, 2013
Federal education officials have partially lifted the "high-risk" status of Hawaii's $75 million Race to the Top grant, citing "substantial progress" in two so-called assurance areas of the state's sweeping school reform plan.
"This is a turning point for us as we continue our strategic transformation in our public schools," Hawaii Department of Education Superintendent Kathryn Matayoshi said in a statement Monday. "The progress being made gives us great hope that federal officials will acknowledge the improvements being made in the other areas of the grant."
Gotta get the grub in line:
An internal Department of Education audit has found an "unacceptable" lack of oversight, monitoring and accountability of the state's $92 million school food services program.

Many staff don't fill our proper forms - purchases requisitions; inventory records; collections
Service managers have conflicting tasks - ordering; receiving; inventory

Nothing about stealing; misappropriation; mismanagement; diversion, etc. I’d be insulted. But then, better not to bring it up.
No oversight? How can you have a surplus of pepole employed but nobody looking, even those whose job it is to look?
Probably people doing nothing and collecting fat checks. I'd like to see those time cards, if there are any consistent with the wages.
"Employee honesty is "the only thing that stands between what we've got and masive corruption." BOE MEMBER
Obviously this has been the rule since HAWAII'S had schools. And this is honesty? This is a lack of corruption. But then corruption in HAWAII is only massive in the prevasiveness of it. The benefits being only for the insiders. When you're allowed to lick you own a$$ after such lengthy mismanagement, nothing will be found. Can you say, FORENSIC ACCOUNTING?
Today is the last time I visit this site. The articles have become not interesting. Sorry.
